Caplan & Earnest Awards Education Law Grant to Mi Leyenda Foundation to Support its Work Empowering Resilient Students 

Caplan & Earnest is excited to announce it awarded Mi Leyenda Foundation with its annual Education Law Grant, which provides $5,000 to a Colorado nonprofit that removes barriers for underrepresented post-secondary learners to help these students achieve their academic and career goals. 

Mi Leyenda Foundation’s mission is to promote academic achievement for resilient students who want to create their legacy through education. Spanish for “My Legend,” the foundation is built on the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to write their own story and pursue post-secondary education, regardless of their circumstances. Through scholarships and supplemental resources, Mi Leyenda Foundation provides estudiantes resilientes—resilient students—with the support they need to continue their educational journey and build their legacies. 

How Mi Leyenda Foundation Makes a Difference 

Mi Leyenda Foundation understands that a story has many chapters, and they provide critical resources to help students succeed for the chapters that are yet to be written. Their work focuses on removing financial and resource barriers that stand between students and their post-secondary education goals.

Renewable Scholarship Support: Mi Leyenda offers renewable scholarships that provide sustained financial assistance throughout students’ college careers, ensuring continued support as they pursue their degrees. 

Holistic Student Resources: Beyond financial aid, the foundation provides supplemental resources to help students navigate the college process and set themselves up for success both on campus and after graduation. 

Empowering Resilient Students: Mi Leyenda specifically serves estudiantes resilientes—students who demonstrate determination and resilience in pursuing their educational goals despite challenges.

Scholarship Opportunity 

Mi Leyenda invites 2026 Colorado high school graduates to apply for the Write Your Legend Scholarship by April 1, 2026. Criteria include:  

• First in family to attend college 

• Graduating from a Colorado high school in spring 2026 

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 

• Must attend a 2- or 4-year accredited institution beginning in fall 2026
