Education Attorney Elliott Hood Elected as CU Regent At-Large
Caplan & Earnest Education Law Attorney Elliott Hood has won the race for the statewide (at-large) seat on the University of Colorado (CU) Board of Regents. He will be sworn in on Jan. 7, 2025.
CU Board of Regents is the governing board of the four-campus CU system, the largest university system in Colorado and third-largest employer in the state. The Regents are responsible for passing the university’s annual budget (currently over $6.2 billion), hiring and managing the university’s president, and creating all policies and laws impacting the CU community. Given the size and reach of the CU system, the Regents are an important elected body that impact communities across Colorado.
Mr. Hood joins eight other Regents, each representing one of Colorado’s eight congressional districts, and he will serve a six-year term. As the statewide-elected Regent, Mr. Hood will represent the people of Colorado at-large. Mr. Hood will continue his practice as an education attorney at Caplan & Earnest while he serves as Regent.
“I am extremely honored to serve the people of Colorado in this position and am so grateful to everyone who supported me in this journey,” Mr. Hood said.
“From his early career days as an elementary school teacher, Elliott has been a passionate advocate for students and access to education,” Caplan & Earnest Co-managing Partner Elizabeth Friel said. “We celebrate his achievement and are grateful for the work he will undertake on behalf of all Coloradans as a regent.”
