Education Law Attorney Hope Griffin Rejoins Caplan & Earnest
Caplan & Earnest LLC announced that Hope Griffin has rejoined the firm’s Education Law practice as an attorney. Griffin most recently served as Associate Legal Counsel & Equity Compliance Officer for the Cherry Creek School District, and she was a law clerk at Caplan & Earnest from 2016-2017.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Hope back to Caplan & Earnest,” said Melissa Barber, a member and the leader of the firm’s Education Law practice group. “We have earned a national reputation for our work in the area of education law, and her practical, hands-on experience at one of the largest school districts in the state will be invaluable to our education clients.”
Griffin will work with education clients on a wide range of education-related legal matters, including special education, Title IX, Title VI, student discipline, internal investigations, student equity, ADA, FMLA, and commercial agreements.
Griffin began her career as a third-grade teacher in Colorado Springs as part of Teach for America. She also served as a legal intern for U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, where she drafted notification letters and data requests to complainants, school districts and universities. She also served as a Law Clerk for Justice Melissa Hart with the Colorado Supreme Court and for Judge Dennis A. Graham and Judge Ted C. Tow III with the Colorado Court of Appeals.
“I’m excited to be back at Caplan & Earnest,” Griffin said. “The firm’s focus on partnering with clients to find legal solutions to their most complex and important challenges aligns perfectly with my approach to law.”
Griffin earned her J.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Law (Order of the Coif), where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and was named Outstanding Board Member of the Law Review. She also earned her bachelor’s degree from Wofford College (cum laude).
The addition of Griffin means Caplan & Earnest now has 40 attorneys focusing on eight practice areas – Education Law, Health Law, Litigation, Immigration Law, Business Law, Compliance & Workplace Investigations, Estate Planning/Probate/Wills/Trusts and Family/Divorce Law.
